How heavy should my blanket be?
The Koala therapeutic weighted blanket designed to be approximately 7-13% of your body weight.
How to choose the right size?
The Koala Blanket comes with 2 size options: 48*78 inches and 60*80 inches. Both sizes have an option of 6.8kg or 9kg.
Is the blanket machine washable?
The cover is machine washable and also can be dry cleaned. Remove the cover before washing, and wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, hang your cover to dry. Do not use bleach.
We recommend only washing the weighted insert by hand in cold water. Do not tumble dry, do not dry clean. Do not soak or bleach.
Please note: Other brands state that you can wash the weighted insert but doing this can break your washing machine due to the weight.
How long will it take to get used to the Koala Blanket?
This is variable. Some people love their blanket straight away and feel the therapeutic benefits immediately. For others, getting used to a weighted blanket takes a few days but never more than a few weeks.
How long it will take you to get used to it depends on you. It’s important to remember a weighted blanket is heavier than a regular duvet or blanket, so there’s bound to be a small bedding in period (please excuse the pun).
How does the Koala Blanket stay cool?
You can use your Koala Blanket all year round because it is reversible with two different fabric outer layers.
For cooler nights, you use the Ultra Soft Mink Side, and for warmer nights, you use the Silky Bamboo side. These fabrics were chosen after extensive testing. They are lovely to touch and supremely comfortable.
Another reason the Koala Blanket is good for winter and summer is because of what goes in it. The ‘weight’ is provided by very small glass beads, which do not restrict heat loss and move around silently as you do. The unique pattern of the Koala Blanket keeps these beads evenly spread out for optimal comfort.
If you use your Koala Blanket in winter, use the loop and tie system to fasten it to your duvet. If you are using your blanket in summer, you can use the Koala Blanket with just a bed sheet or on its own. Whatever works for you.
